The Vietnamese Khmer Rouge destroyes the Loung family with violence force. Loung experiences so much of chaos along with many conflicts when they are forced out of their houses. Unfortunately, the family goes through so much series of hardships. Because of lack of safe sanitation system and clean sweage system there are many whom are suffering in the situation. As the violence continues, there are less food and less liberation in their fleeing and with her father lost, Loung goes through the process of maturity.
The family separates and the Loung family is separated. It takes time to reunite the family. Loung had to wait until the Khmer Rouge is out of country and finally there is peace in the country. There is no immediate peaceful freedom, though, the situation is relieved.
There are food shortages along with other problems that causes some unfortunates in the family. The government is officially not set yet and thet unstableness continues within the family.
There are still dangerous weapons everywhere where bullets are abandoned or used often as before, giving more threats to the survivors. Hoping for the better tomorrow and the future, Loung seeks for better dreams and thinks fortunately.
